Aside from the flagship PGA event, a pro-am competition will be staged at other courses throughout Merseyside and the Golf Foundation will work to attract local youngsters into the game. Announcing the funding package, Tourism Minister Kim Howells said: "The festival will enable Merseyside to showcase its international quality courses to the wider golfing world and attract significant tourist spending into the region.
