Summary:A spokesman for Mr [Jack Straw] said the Justice Secretary tried to answer Mrs [Denise Fergus]'s questions "as fully as he could". Mrs Fergus is believed to have questioned him on reports that [Jon Venables], in a psychiatric judgement in 2000 which preceded his release, would pose only a "trivial" risk to the public. Mr Straw has also told a Commons probe that it was right to guarantee the anonymity of Venables, fellow killer Robert Thompson and others who would otherwise face "lynch mobs".
