Summary:2 SUPPORT the Woodland Trust and Recycle Now's christmas card recycling scheme. Just take your cards to Tesco, WH Smith or TK Maxx stores any day in January and they'll be collected and recycled into new paper products. The money raised will help the Woodland Trust save existing woods and even create new ones. To find your nearest store taking cards, visit www.woodland-trust.org.uk/cards. Recycling cards really can make a difference. Andrew Fairbairn, of the Woodland Trust Scotland, says: "Recycling just one Christmas card saves enough electricity to allow five people to watch 15 minutes of Christmas TV!" 4 DON'T throw envelopes in the bin. Most can be recycled in your kerbside recycling box, or at your local recycling centre. Contact your local council, or see www.recyclenow.com or www.recyclemore.co.uk. Re-use envelopes by sticking reusable labels, available from Friends Of The Earth (020 7490 1555, www.foe.co.uk), to the front of your old envelopes. 12 DON'T throw away the foil you put round the turkey - recycle it instead. That also goes for any aluminium baking trays and drinks cans. If you don't have a kerbside collection for aluminium, visit a recycling centre - but remember to wash the food trays first! It's also best to rinse out the cans and crush them. Your local supermarket may have a specialist recycling bank, or check with your council or visit www.alupro.org.uk for more information on recycling aluminium.
