Summary:Georgia's two U.S. senators are caught between determined voters who want to stop the addiction to illegal labor, and the employers of illegal immigrants who want to continue it. That means we cannot relax yet, because these employers continue to press for piecemeal passage of the worst provisions of the dead Senate immigration bill. ("Ga. senators: Bill dead, but issue isn't," News, June 29). The AJC's coverage of the U.S. Social Forum ("Marchers take beefs to streets," Metro, June 28, and "Forum focuses on social justice themes," Metro, June 29) shows ambivalence on how to describe activist groups. These articles were condescending or disparaging. At the forum, concerns included: End the war in Iraq. Create an accessible, affordable health care system. Assure good education for all our children and youth. The way the concerns were discussed is about all of us, not the "beefs" of "left-wing groups." If the rest of us don't get busy, we will lose the America we have known and loved.
