Summary:The discussion continues about "saggy pants" in Atlanta ["Atlanta officials buckle not in saggy pants war," AJC News, Aug. 29]. On the second anniversary of the [Hurricane] Katrina disaster, the Gulf Coast region still sits in shambles, a blunt testimony to the real "heart" of the Republican philosophy of governing. "No help for the helpless" is their battle cry, while continuing to grant trillion-dollar tax breaks for the wealthy and giant corporations, and billions more for futile war. [Perdue]'s PR efforts attempted to ameliorate a voting public that has every right to be aggravated with the foreseeable consequences of cutting the education budget --- in a state that already ranks low. We, the voters, need to push for accountability and ideas that address our state's education woes, rather than peppy PR blurbs that make us want to "go fish."
