Summary:Americans believe in fair play. If the idea of citizenship for illegal immigrants were left out of any solution and each illegal immigrant had to register for participation in a temporary noncitizen "guest worker program," I believe support would be much stronger. After this issue is settled, all the other issues related to illegal immigrants --- border security, employer compliance, questions related to fines, taxes, deportation, etc. --- would be fairly easy to resolve. Editorial board member Mike King wrote in a recent column that "unchecked illegal immigration is having a profound impact, right now, in hundreds of ways in the older suburbs surrounding Atlanta, where many of the state's 400,000 to 800,000 illegal immigrants have settled." He noted that crowding caused by illegal immigrants has burdened schools, health clinics and emergency rooms. CAPTION: MARK J.
