Summary:It would be a merciful gesture if the newspaper would refuse to print letters with such words and phrases as: as usual; what's wrong with this picture; now, let me see if I've got this straight; kudos; editorial board; moron; whining; bed-wetting; [Ted Kennedy]; McKinney; Pelosi; Dubya; Pat Robertson; neocon; right; left; fundamentalist; sick and tired; agenda; mainstream media; liberal AJC; and spin. The article, which exposed The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's extreme liberal bias, was a poor attempt to libel President Bush. Three of the four people identified have lied, were caught lying or were forced to admit lying. You place with them a picture of Bush and explain that some people think he lied, no doubt hoping that many of your readers would infer that he had indeed lied. The response by many in the West --- including, surprisingly, some Israeli leaders --- is that this was largely a "protest vote" against Fatah corruption. Nonsense. The whole concept of democracy, and a free vote, is the responsibility that goes with it. The majority of the 78 percent of the Palestinian voters who turned out cast their ballot for a leadership committed to suicide bombings of civilians (what many call terrorism) and to the Iranian ideal of wiping Israel off the map. The nation to which these people aspire must now be accepted and recognized as a terrorist entity. The responsibility of the Palestinians was to vote; the responsibility of the world is to accept the outcome and act accordingly.
