Summary: | Since [Angela Tuck]'s position is that of a journalist, I think hers is a minority opinion. Most people, after the terrible behavior of reporters for years, now disbelieve most everything reporters print. I can cite many examples of reporters making up stories. All the major newspapers seem to have had this occur. We readers are expected to just believe that quoted sources actually said this or that. A bigger question is whether the sources even exist. If I were to go through The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's files, I trust I would find many suspect stories by its reporters. Imagine the uproar if [Jeffrey Weiss] had compared the Scientology position against psychiatry with the anti-gay teachings of orthodox Judaism or Islam. But the AJC would never have printed such a ridiculous comparison in the first place. Weiss then followed with nothing supporting his comparison. Like Sen. Dick Durbin's comparison of Guantanamo to a Soviet gulag and Nazism, Weiss' comparison proves that he knows precious little about either subject of his comparison. |
