Summary:Bob Kemper's profile of Sen. [Saxby Chambliss] makes clear that Chambliss rejects personal accountability for his actions. In 2002, Chambliss questioned former Sen. Max Cleland's patriotism with an ad associating Cleland with Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. Sunday, Chambliss was quoted as saying, "I'm over it. I hope [my critics] are too." In choosing leaders for a democratic government, however, they should not look to the [Bush] administration for role models. True democracy depends on an informed electorate who are told the truth by those in power. Bush and his cronies lied about stockpiles of WMD and links to al-Qaida to rally support for attacking Iraq. Let us hope that the Iraqis have the wisdom to choose a leader with more integrity and veracity than Bush.
