Summary: | He is correct in predicting that if President [George W. Bush] is re- elected, there will be a draft. It has to happen. Bush has made a basic strategic error by having a two-front war with limited military resources. That mistake doomed Germany during World War II and it will doom us. Each of the eight years I have lived in DeKalb County, my taxes have increased far past the rate of inflation or the increase in home values for my area, and the only results I can see from those increases are newly installed substandard sidewalks that are already crumbling ("[Vernon Jones] has lifted DeKalb to new heights," Equal Time, Sept. 16). [Richard Stogner] also seems to think that if the media attention went away, so would all of Vernon Jones' problems. A major role of the media is to keep watch on elected officials and shine a light on the inner workings of government. It is troubling that Mr. CEO would prefer to operate in the dark. |
