Summary: | I think it is important for people to appreciate the IRA tended to regard Scotland as a no-go area. With the al Qaida groups, it is very different. We do have targets up here which are part of the critical national infrastructure. If the north-east oil terminal St Fergus was to be damaged, the effect on the UK economy would be horrendous. We have the Royal Family up here during the summer. Elsewhere, we have Grangemouth and Faslane. It is not that they are related to al Qaida as an organisation, it's an ideological connection. They share the same views and ambitions. |
