Summary:  District Superintendent John Alumbaugh outlined potential savings for board and community members. Alumbaugh noted that there have already been 16 cuts made to the 2002-03 budget, saving the district $297,966; he then recommended another 26 cuts that could save an additional $505,356. Alumbaugh also suggested reducing the technology budget by $42,000 to $70,000. Alumbaugh said this would allow the district to maintain the technological needs of students and teachers without expanding upon them. Additionally, the cost of school lunch might increase by about 10 cents. Alumbaugh estimated that if the board approved all of the suggested cuts during its February meeting, the district could save $1,097,127 - though it still would run a $500,000 to $600,000 deficit for the next school year.
