Summary:With the approval of the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority, both Churchill and [James C. Ellis] will offer live racing around the major summer holiday. Churchill then will close, turning over live racing to Ellis Park through Labor Day. In January, after a November tornado damaged a huge portion of the track, Churchill named Brian Elmore as Ellis' general manager and vice president. Elmore, who has directed the rebuilding project along with operations director Bob Jackson, will remain general manager under [Ron Geary].
