Summary:David Allgood, proprietor of Diamond Lanes and Diamond Lanes South in Owensboro, Ky., said: "Our smoking ban started in the middle of our bowling season on Jan. 1, 2006. We lost a few bowlers, but not many. I expected it would be much worse. Open play is up. It is not the negative I thought it might have been, but it may be too early to tell." "I want to accommodate all bowlers. Our bowling area is smoke free, and smoking is allowed on the concourse. We have ionizers that take smoke out of the air, fans and blowers that blow smoke away from the bowlers. If we have a 10-team league and lose four or five bowlers, we could lose the entire league." VINCENT PUGLIESE / Courier & Press Jim Tackett, a regular bowler on Thursday nights at ARC Lanes in Evansville, takes a drag on a cigarette between games. He questions why bowling establishments should be included in a proposed smoking ban for Vanderburgh County.
