Summary:This year I didn't experience any of these barriers because I voted by absentee ballot. I hope my absentee ballot wasn't among those disqualified because it had not been initialed by two Election Office employees. This was my first year voting by absentee ballot, and nowhere in the instructions did it mention that I should check the ballot for the required two sets of initials. Like most voters, I trusted that the Election Office followed the proper procedure for mailing my absentee ballot. But the next election, I'll know to be extra careful so my vote doesn't end up in the reject bin.
