Summary: | YOUR July 29 editorial on the medical provider tax continues your long tradition of doctor-bashing and the class-warfare ideas of Don Marx, er, Marsh. * Two-thirds of West Virginia's medical graduates leave the state when their education is completed. We have three medical schools, one to train doctors for this state and two to train doctors for other states. * Medicaid payments to doctors are self-generated. A dollar in taxes plus three federal dollars equals four dollars for medical fees. In a state with a total budget over $6 billion, one would think the state could allocate at least one dollar for physician services, especially since 20 percent of the state is on Medicaid. |
