Summary: | RAMALLAH, West Bank - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned as "idiotic" a suicide bombing that killed two people at an Israeli shopping mall yesterday, vowing that those behind it would be punished. Police said the attack, which was the first suicide bombing inside Israel in four-and-a-half months, occurred at the entrance to the Kenyon Hasharon mall at about 6:30 p.m. The 18-year-old Palestinian bomber struck at a busy junction, just metres from where a similar attack killed five Israelis in 2001. Islamic Jihad identified the bomber as Ahmed Saami Abu Khalil, from the Palestinian village of Atil, 15 kilometres east of [Netanya], on the other side of the wall built by Israel to deter suicide bombers. |
