Summary: | Notwithstanding historical and legal precedents and arguments, GO Transit is now a Crown Corporation and must abide by federal rules and regulations, notably the Official Languages Act, which gives equal status to both official languages. It was most happy to receive the $385-million from the federal government, but would prefer to ignore its obligations regarding French language services. It is disappointing that a Crown corporation must be forced by the provincial government to comply. It is even more disappointing that such a visible Crown corporation fails to see the benefits of implementing such a policy.
