Summary: | Mr. [Harkat]'s alleged connections to terrorism are documented in a hefty intelligence dossier released by the Federal Court of Canada. CSIS says Mr. Harkat is a member of bin Laden's international network of sleeper agents and supporters. During an interview with CSIS agents, Mr. Harkat also admitted he had worked "at the same place in Pakistan" as Mr. Shehri, who was arrested after he arrived in Canada carrying a holster, knife, garrotte and papers describing assassination methods. Mr. Harkat visited Mr. Shehri in jail before he was deported. At first Mr. Harkat denied he knew Mr. Khadr but later admitted he had met him through a friend at a Toronto mosque. He insisted his ties to Mr. Khadr were minimal, but CSIS agents said they "knew he was not being honest," the report said. |
