Summary: | AN INQUIRY into the suspected theft of seabird eggs in England has led to the discovery of several raids on golden eagle nests in the Western Isles. In what is believed to be the first cross-Border investigation of its kind, police in Cleveland and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in Scotland have uncovered the real reason behind the failure of four pairs of eagles to rear chicks successfully this year. A total of eight eggs - two from each nest - were stolen from sites in North Uist and Benbecula, probably around April. |
