Summary: | The truth is that, at a meeting of the delegates of the Ulster Young Unionist Council, an attempt to disaffiliate from the Ulster Unionist Council was easily defeated with a clear majority of delegates voting against resignation from the party. What I cannot respect is that some of those individuals then use the cloak of anonymity to make unfounded accusations against people like myself, Lord Molyneaux, Martin Smyth, Arlene Foster, Jim Rodgers, David Burnside, William Ross and others who have chosen to follow our conscience and to ignore the calls to abandon ship. I challenge this so-called 'former Young Unionist' to produce one statement, one interview or one speech given by any of us that would indicate that we have changed our views on any of the key issues like decommissioning, Sinn Fein/IRA in government, policing, terrorist amnesties, etc. |
