Summary:[David Leatherdale] Age: 35 Career one-day average: 21.77 2003 one- day average: 27.75 Career one-day bowling average: 22.53 (4.73 economy rate) 2003 one-day bowling average: 21.61 (4.78 economy rate) Leatherdale may not be as extravagantly talented as some of colleagues, but a cool head and years of experience (along with Rhodes and [Graeme Hick] he is the only player left from the victory of 1994) make him an invaluable team member. He will contribute in whatever way his captain asks, aggressive or defensive as the situation requires, while he has already showed his worth with the bat with 62 in the quarter-final against Leicestershire and a man of the match 80 against Yorkshire in the fourth round. He has just agreed a one- day contract for 2004. Gareth Batty Age: 25 Career one-day average: 18.60 2003 one-day average: 11.80 Career one-day bowling average: 35.28 (4.66 economy rate) 2003 one-day bowling average: 29.60 (3.75 economy rate) Rated by Ashley Mallett as the best off-spinner in the country, Batty has improved this season since seeking the advice of Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan in the winter. He is desperately close to a regular international spot, and could benefit from the ship window of this showcase occasion. Batty offers his captain great control with the ball, varying his pace well and gaining a decent amount of turn. A fine fielder and natural strokemaker, Batty is a fine all- round cricketer with a bright future. Ian Harvey Age: 31 Career one-day average: 24.42 2003 one-day average: 33.33 Career one-day bowling average: 15.06 (4.69 economy rate) 2003 one-day bowling average: 29.60 (3.75 economy rate) The key figure in the game. He took five for 23 against Warwickshire in the quarter-final, producing some unplayable deliveries, and is likely to operate in the middle and end of the Worcestershire innings, where his subtle changes of pace can break the batsmen's rhythm. Harvey is also an explosive batsman, demonstrated by his century against Warwickshire in the Twenty20 - the first in the competition's history.
