| Summary: | This weekend, on International Women's Day, the most influential woman in Israeli culture will be announced. On March 8, a group of judges including Gilad Reich, Gidon Levi, Rivi Feldmeser Yaron, Avirama Golan, Iris Mor and Daria Shuali will choose between 10 worthy women who have made significant contributions to local culture. The nominees are Iris Barel, Ilana Dayan, Lia Van Leer, Orly Kastel-Bloom, Tamira Yardeni, Ninette, Dalit Ofer, Tzipi Pines, Tzruya Shalev and Edna Mazya. Our own contributions include the Golden Peacock Trio comprised of pianist/composer Eyal Batt, a singer and a violinist, who will premiere Batt's newest work The Wonder Worker of Vohlin based on a story by I.L. Peretz. Luscious- voiced singer Keren Kadar and the all-woman Contemporary Israel Quartet offer settings to Sasha Argov songs by 10 local composers, and not least, A Journey to the Red Sea features some of our own jazz greats, such as pianist Dani Gottfried, saxophonist Albert Piamenta and percussionist Arale Kaminski. |
