Summary:Sir, - [David J. Forman]'s Counterpoint article last Friday forgot to blame the "settlers" for mixing the blood of Christian babies into their matza meal. As the founder of Rabbis for Human Rights, Forman decided a long time ago that "settlers" were not human, and therefore had no rights. Sir, - Barbara Sofer had me worried there for a minute ("The Human Spirit: One in 60," November 21). I was sure that she would report that the women's "peace initiative" book launching she attended ended in some sort of misty- eyed embrace with the participants all concluding that what's going on between Israel and the Palestinians is an affront to civilized behavior and vowing to do all that was possible to bring this ongoing conflict to an end. Sir, - Jonathan Rosenblum paints a rosy picture of the haredi shidduch system, but he conveniently ignores the down-side ("Parental matchmaking still works," November 14). Namely: if one of your parents is newly religious, or if a sibling has become less religious, or if a sibling is divorced, or worse still, if a sibling has a debilitating disease, all of the above will affect your "shidduch status." Not to mention your family background - Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Hassidic sect, etc. A more comprehensive examination of the shidduch system will somewhat restore the balance for our youth.
