Summary: | The Home Front Command instructed the Education Ministry to order an immediate evacuation of school buildings for fear that an after-shock could strike. By 10:45 classrooms were empty as schoolchildren waited outside for further instructions. At 11:30 the Education Ministry notified teachers that they should wait till noon before inspecting all buildings for any sign of damage. Teacher Galia Milo said that her class of sixth graders took appropriate action when the quake started in the middle of a math lesson on the third floor of the Argentina School in Jerusalem. The 12-year-olds all dived under their school desks and Milo took up a position in the doorway from where she could watch developments. |
