Summary:Sir, - Criticism must be fair. Amotz Asa-El was not when he repeated the unfounded allegation that [George Soros] blamed the Jews for the resurgence of anti-Semitism. One can object to Soros's assertion that the policies of [George W. Bush] and Ariel Sharon were a contributing factor in such resurgence, but this assertion can in no way be construed as blaming the Jews. Therefore, Asa-El's long psychological explanation of Soros's alleged acceptance of guilt is irrelevant. Asa-El is also unaware that Soros has donated to Israeli causes. While it is true that Soros concentrated most of his efforts on Eastern Europe, for about 10 years he donated considerable sums for courses held by The Israel Center for Social and Economic Progress for immigrants from the former Soviet Union. Thousands of adults and children were helped to adjust to the Israeli economy through these courses.
