Summary: | The Haifa magistrates court on Monday extended the custodial remands of three of the suspects in the alleged Haifa Jewish underground group believed responsible for a series of bombing attacks on Arab-related targets in the Haifa area over the past three years. The prime suspect, Eliran Golan, 22, of Haifa, was remanded for a further 11 days, Yevgeny Groisman, 22, of Ashdod, for another 10 days, and Alex Rabinovitch, 22, of Haifa for a further four days. Golan claimed at the remand hearing that he had acted alone in preparing and planting nine bombs, including one that exploded under the car of Hadash MK Issam Mahoul last October without causing any casualties. Golan's father, Meir Golan, is under house arrest. * David Rudge "The Jews depicted are depicted as almost caricature Jews who demand [Jesus's] blood," he told commercial television station ITV. "I am not accusing him [[Mel Gibson]] of being a deliberate and overt anti-Semite, but there is no doubt that the message of the film is seriously, damagingly anti-Semitic. "People who do not know the story will see it as the Jews wanting to murder this saintly man while the Roman ruler of the country didn't want to do it but was forced to by their pressure." |
