Summary: | Ronit Ashkenazi, 39, former head of the Shin Bet education department, was convicted of fraud, breach of trust, and embezzlement by Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court yesterday. She was sentenced to six months' community service and a year-and-a-half suspended sentence, and fined NIS 75,000. Kupat Holim Clalit workers' union head Prosper Ben- Hamu said not to go to Kaplan today except for emergencies. He also said Kaplan has four operating rooms that are not used because of the lack of funds to purchase equipment, and adding new departments to Kaplan would cost significantly less than the NIS 500 million cost of building a new hospital in Ashdod. Judy Siegel Dr. Benny Avrahami, director of the anti-drug and alcohol authority and the departments of prisoner rehabilitation and homelessness in the Tel Aviv Municipality said that the number of homeless in Tel Aviv is continually on the rise.
