Likud chairman MK Ariel Sharon is to address the event. He will refer to the major issues in Israel today, but will talk especially about the matters which most concern the Diaspora, said Michael Edri, World Likud Director-General. Among the issues expected to be raised at the conference are antisemitism in Russia and the detention of Russian Jewish media magnate Vladimir Goussinsky. Aside from Sharon, other scheduled speakers include Jewish Agency Chairman Sallai Meridor, and Likud MK Naomi Blumenthal, who chairs World Likud, as well as the Knesset Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee. David Franklin The National Jewish Democratic Council presented [Al Gore] with its annual Hubert H. Humphrey Humanitarian Award at a fundraising gala.
