Summary:If attorneys push their clients toward mediation, in appropriate cases, the attorneys will be rewarded with satisfied clients and the ability to successfully close their case files much more quickly. This will also result in the expenditure of far less time and money, as well as reducing the emotional drain on all of the participants to the litigation process. Before opening a full-time mediation practice in Israel, I was a trial lawyer in the US for more than 35 years. During at least the past 15 years, I have been heavily involved in mediation with clients in a variety of cases of all types. I can verify, based on my personal experiences, that the process works. Michael S. Arnold is to be complimented for his clear and thorough presentation of the views of Prof. Ruth Wisse ("On Chelm and the Mideast," January 28) on the present political shortcomings of the Jewish People. There is no doubt considerable truth in her analysis, especially as it related to the post-Zionist Jewish self-haters, yet I believe it is only a part of the truth, given the complexities of Israel's situation, and the threats to us.
