Summary:The Morgan Stanley Capital International Asia-Pacific index gained fractionally, adding 0.05 point to 159.25 points. The Nikkei 225 in Japan dropped 21.68 points to 18,217.27 points, while the broader Topix slipped 5.09 points to 1,778.11 points. Japanese markets were closed Monday for a holiday, a day on which the Sensex index in India was the only regional benchmark to advance. Taiwan Cement and Cathay Financial paced gains after UBS raised its 12-month estimate for the Taiex to 12,000 points. The index closed Tuesday at 9,509.73 points, up 92.41 points.
