Japanese markets were closed Monday for a holiday, a day on which the Sensex index in India was the only regional benchmark to advance. Taiwan Cement and Cathay Financial paced gains after UBS raised its 12-month estimate for the Taiex to 12,000 points. The index closed Tuesday at 9,509.73 points, up 92.41 points.
