Summary:In this era of globalization and terrorism, what is the ideal global logistics course? In an effort to provide the most up-to-date topics and information, East Carolina University's Department of Industrial Technology surveyed several sources, including logistics professionals and logistics education professionals. Textbooks on international logistics, global operations management and international business were also evaluated to determine which topics were fundamental. The results should provide an extensive guide to what is appropriate for career development training programs as well as for college-level coursework. The survey also asked for the most important topics to be covered in a global logistics course. Here's how the practitioners and educators ranked those topics: 1. global trading issues, 2. customs regulations, 3. Incoterms, 4. shipping regulations, 5. contract issues, 6. information technology, 7. port issues, 8. information security issues, and 9. container-security initiatives.
