Summary:Consumer groups also weighed in. Jeff Chester, executive director of the nonprofit Center for Digital Democracy, said the Comcast deal "should be unacceptable" to federal regulators. He said the combination "would permit one entity to dominate cable-system distribution in the largest markets in the U.S.," including eight of the top-10 markets. It would also control a broadcast-TV network and the dozens -- if not hundreds -- of digital channels from its owned- and-affiliated stations, Mr. Chester said. In addition, its programming assets would include the ESPN channels, Toon, Disney, Golf, E, and TV One, as well as Internet access.
