Summary:Hewlett-Packard Co. and Gateway Inc. told Microsoft that they were very concerned about elements of the new agreements, particularly additional restrictions on their right to sue Microsoft for patent infringement, according to letters and electronic messages from the two computer makers filed with a U.S. federal court reviewing the proposed settlement. Mr. [Jim Desler] of Microsoft declined to provide the specific provisions affecting the PC makers, but said some limitations on PC makers' rights to sue Microsoft had always been included in prior agreements. He added that some new provisions regarding intellectual property actually were seen as an improvement by most PC makers.
