Summary: | SOMETHING'S NOT WRIGHT: David Wright had the 16th three-strikeout game of his career. That raised his season tally to a National League-high 23 strikeouts in 70 at-bats. Wright is 1-for-12 on the home stand. Asked if Wright might need a day off after playing every game so far this season, Jerry Manuel quipped: "I think I need one." Wright suggested that he's fouling off hittable fastballs he usually crushes, causing him to go deep into counts and making him susceptible to strikeouts. OMIR CATCHING ON: Omir Santos caught a second straight game, which is an indication of how quickly he's made a positive impression. Manuel likes Santos' technique behind the plate, especially how effortlessly he catches tough sinkers. Manuel said the pitchers enjoy throwing to Santos too, so the manager is obliging by using Santos over Ramon Castro. |
