Summary: | It took everything that [Ricky Hatton] had for him to score a 12-round unanimous decision over [Luis Collazo] and take away his WBA welterweight title. In the end, it may have been Collazo who proved that he belongs in the upper echelon of the division as he repeatedly rocked Hatton, who had moved up from 140 pounds to challenge Collazo (26- 2, 12 KOs). Hatton (41-0, 30 KOs) decked Collazo within seconds after the bell had sounded to begin the first round. It was a short left that caught Collazo going backwards. Off balance, Collazo went sailing backwards and hit the canvas. Hatton kept up relentless pressure on Collazo, much to the delight of the many Brits who had traveled to support the Manchester product. |
