Summary:LAS VEGAS -Marc Ratner, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Association, presided over his last major boxing event for the commission last night when he sat ringside for the Oscar De La Hoya-Ricardo Mayorga WBC super-welterweight match at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Ratner's quiet professionalism and reputation for integrity in a sport where it is sorely lacking made him an ideal hire for UFC, a brutal sport that has been called "human cockfighting" by Sen. John McCain. Ratner helped define rules for the sport and was one of the first boxing administrators in the U.S. to govern UFC. Ratner has presided over some very controversial and strange boxing matches in his 13 years as executive director. Ratner said the most bizarre was "The Fan Man" fight, when a man parachuted into the ring ropes while Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe were fighting in a heavyweight championship match outside at Caesars Palace on a chilly night on Nov. 6, 1993.
