Summary: | After a Las Vegas bankruptcy judge upheld his contract with [Rahman], [Bob Arum] is back in the heavyweight game and is expected to soon open negotiations with Don King and Dan Goossen - James Toney's co- promoters - for a fight between Rahman, the WBC champion, and Toney. Now that Arum has Rahman, there is a major crimp in King's plan to hold a heavyweight unification tournament. IBF champ Chris Byrd and King are suing each other. Byrd is trying to get out of his contract because he said King has not met any of the agreed-upon minimums. King claims Byrd is trying to ruin his business by refusing to participate in the unification tournament. If Byrd flies the coop, then King will be left with WBA champ John Ruiz and WBO champ Lamon Brewster, whose contract with King expires next year. |
