Summary: | THE TWO QUEENS soldiers killed together in Iraq last week when a bomb tore apart their Humvee were close buddies who shared parallel lives. Specs. [Wai Lwin Azhar Ali] and Azhar Ali were both 27, spent their early years in distant lands - Lwin in Myanmar, Ali in Pakistan - before coming to America with their families to begin anew in New York City. "He talked to [Lwin] a lot," Zulfiqar Ali said. "That's his friend. Sometimes, [Ali] would not have a car, so [Lwin] would come and pick up my brother." Just a few miles away in Douglaston, where Lwin's family grieved over his loss, Lwin's father, [Zaw Lwin], recalled that his son introduced him to Ali at the National Guard Armory on Lexington Ave. and often mentioned his friend during phone calls home from Iraq. |
