Summary:The coincidence of Holly Hunter and Emma Thompson - both undoubtedly perfect, how I like them both! - in the categories of Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress may end up as an insult instead of an honour. Imagine if Holly Hunter wins the Best Supporting Actress for The Firm, and doesn't get the award for The Piano, one of my favourite films of the past few years. It would be enough to make you strip off your skin. Emma Thompson performs impeccably in In The Name Of The Father, but her exquisite and vibrant performance in The Remains Of The Day does not require complimentary nominations. Her scenes with [Anthony Hopkins] are a miracle. They should create a category to reward "couples with chemistry". Besides Hopkins and Thompson, I loved the pairings of Holly Hunter and Harvey Keitel, another of my absent favourites, and Liam Neeson and Ben Kingsley.
