Summary: | Mike Henry carried the ball 28 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns for the Mustangs, scoring on a six-yard run in the first and a one-yard run in the fourth. Quarterback Mike Jilek added two touchdown tosses, both going to J.J. Standring. Leo (0-2) countered with a strong effort from its quarterback David Thomas, who threw for 227 yards on nine completions. Thomas threw a 45-yard scoring toss to Willie Brown and a 92-yard touchdown pass to Sam Harris, both in the second quarter, when Leo scored 18 points and cut the lead to 21-18. Glenbrook South 44, Niles North 6: David Egan's interception on the third play of the game set up a 26-yard TD by Kevin Taylor at the 10:54 mark. Three minutes later, Anthony Shoemaker hit Joe McFadden from 45 yards out for his only completion of the game. Taylor (14 carries, 102 yards) added a 3-yard run to put the No. 7 Spartans (2-0) up 29-0 at the half. |
