Summary: | The striking Chicago Teachers Union resumed negotiations with the Board of Education Wednesday, while about 1,000 union members staged a rally in the Daley Center Plaza. Before addressing the rally, Jacqueline Vaughn, president of the teachers' union, told reporters outside the school board offices at 1819 W. Pershing Rd. why the rally was being held in the Loop, just a block from City Hall. Chances appeared slim of ending the strike before Monday, however, because no negotiations were planned with smaller striking unions until Friday. The teachers' union was the only one bargaining Wednesday. |
