Summary:One of the most horrible crimes visited upon human beings by their fellow men is surely the crime of genocide: mass murder with the intent to destroy national, ethnic, racial or religious groups. Though genocide has always plagued mankind, we must face the ugly fact that our own century is dubiously distinguished by the ferocity and efficiency of modern methods, acts and ideologies of genocide. Most notorious of the 20th Century episodes of genocide is the Nazi campaign against Jews, Gypsies and other "non-Aryan" peoples. But just as vicious has been the genocidal terror of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia and the genocide against the people of Afghanistan by the Russians.
