Summary: | Today, only two original members of The Ladies of Taylor Homes remain: Agnes Alderman and her mother, Katie. Next month, these women will take the first step toward making their vision - The Ladies of Taylor Homes Educational Vocational Business Empowerment Institute - become a reality. Ms. Alderman's passion has kept the idea of starting a school alive over the years. While the original members of The Ladies of Taylor Homes were motivated at first, Ms. Alderman said, many became discouraged or caught up in their own lives and abandoned the project. Ms. Alderman said the school will target students ages 16-25 and provide basic education courses. Credits from those classes could eventually be transferred to a community college or university, as well as vocational training to provide viable job skills. Ms. Alderman hopes to open the school in a year |
