Summary: | DEAR [AMY]: My husband and I went to a friend's birthday party. It was a formal dinner. I am 54 years old and sat next to "Susan," who is in her 20s. We had never met. Most people at the table - including Susan and I - ordered prime rib. When it was served, Susan got a piece that looked dry. She saw my plate and exclaimed, "Oh, I like fatty meat. I'll trade plates with you." I was so shocked. To be polite, I gave her my plate. Later, I asked the waiter for a replacement. On afterthought, my instinct would be to say "no" and to lecture her on manners. What would you have done? |
