Summary:Seventeen-year-old Jesica Santillan died after doctors gave her organs from a donor with an incompatible blood type ["A Sad End for Jesica," News, Feb. 23]; a 17-month-old girl died after receiving a transplanted liver that didn't match her blood type ["Parents Sue in Baby's Transplant Error," News, March 13]. The reason medical malpractice verdicts and medical malpractice insurance premiums are high is because physicians are more careless and are causing more catastrophic injuries. Let's face it, physicians must realize that their malpractice insurance costs have risen because their level of competency has dropped, not because of medical malpractice claims.
