Summary:The greatest display of our strength, courage and humanity lies in our restraint and resolve. Restraint from succumbing to and drinking from those dark wells in our hearts into which these terrorists plunge their empty souls. And resolve to make this country the most free, democratic, tolerant, civil, humane and just place on Earth. Regarding the article "Terrorist Attacks" [Sept. 15]: Jimmy Breslin printed a very insensitive remark in describing his feelings regarding victims of the World Trade Center tragedy. His description of the alleged death of Lucy Fishman (who we still address as "missing") is inexcusable and extreme: "There isn't anything left of Lucy. She went into the sky, incinerated, blown to bits." It is alleged that Osama bin Laden is the primary suspect in the greatest act of terrorism in American history. While bin Laden has been responsible for past acts of terrorism against Americans, they have all been on a relatively small scale. Experts say the scope of the attacks points to the involvement of the secret service of a sophisticated nation state - and not Afghanistan's, which is primitive and third-rate. So let's not be too quick to point a finger at the most obvious suspects.
