Q. Mark Palasek of Merrick finds the new pavement markings on the Northern State - Meadowbrook State Parkway interchange confusing. "Eastbound on the Northern State Parkway drivers receive notice of which lanes to use for the Meadowbrook Parkway (right) or Northern State continuation (left) on overhead signs. As one approaches the split, there is a solid white line indicating this split which one would believe means Meadowbrook to the right of the line, Northern State to the left. As one bears right to the Meadowbrook a dotted line indicates an additional lane is forming to the left. But it is right of the solid line and drivers assume it's an additional lane for the Meadowbrook. Drivers get surprised when they find this new lane goes to the Northern State and they must veer right." Long Island Expressway.
