Summary: | "We trust and hope the federal government will conduct a serious review into every aspect of the pogrom that occurred in Crown Heights," said [Franklyn Snitow], who represents Jewish residents who say their civil rights were violated during the three nights of rioting. "We will make available every witness and complainant for a confidential interview." Denying allegations that he and his clients had caused the delay, Snitow said, "After 20 months of waiting, they wanted me to fill out forms to identify the person who threw a particular rock," said Snitow. "That says to me they weren't interested in conducting a serious investigation.' Mayor David N. Dinkins, meanwhile, answered his Wednesday critics in an appearance in front of a Jewish audience at the taping of the Leon Charney show on WNYC / Ch. 31. In a program that will air at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dinkins cited his long-standing support of Jewish and Israeli concerns and questioned the motives of the demonstrators. |
