Summary:Regarding Lawrence Kaye's letter {"The Public Schools vs. Catholic Debate," April 15}: I have been a first-grade teacher at Saints Cyril and Methodius School in Deer Park for 16 years. I have a bachelor's degree from Queens College and a masters (with honors) from State University of New York at Stony Brook, plus many in-service credits. Each of our teachers has earned a bachelor's degree and is working towarda master's if he or she doesn't already have one. Our maintenance staff is paid and receives health care benefits. We also hire a grounds crew.
